This inspiring! Once quarantine started Elizabeth Mitchell Bramowski started running with her little stroller side kick, Charlotte! A few weeks into quarantine, things got scary - her dad got sick with Covid, ended up on a ventilator and amazingly came off the ventilator a few days after and is now home recovering! She made it her mission to keep running and for her 40th bday (today) she would do her own half marathon, with Charlotte in stroller of course, and raise money for the wonderful doctors and nurses who helped saved her Dad! Never did she stray away from plan!!!! Happy birthday to my wonderful friend and believe it or not, my first client ever!!!!! And happy healing to your tough as nails Dad!!!! Holy humidity- 93% this morning!! I never leave the house without a water bottle in this kind of weather. After having a scary running experience in the heat, I learned my lesson and now recognize how important hydration is. I started this morning’s workout with a 30 min interval run with @becsgentry. This boy loves good food as much as his mom + dad, and we've been celebrating the long weekend with homemade BRUNCH... a favorite in the Henkin household 🥞 . 🍳: I do a quick slow scramble (I think that's an oxymoron).. and it's so easy and tasty. I add sea salt and garlic powder and then top with avocado, which of course Jagger mostly eats. . 🥞: we use #glutenfree @arrowheadmills mix, which keeps it healthier and really simple. All you need is 1 egg, 1 tbsp oil (I use olive) and milk (I used coconut milk to keep it dairy- free). Add dark chocolate chips to the pancakes as they cook + top with pure maple syrup once finished 🤤. . Happy memorial day, xo the Henkins 💙 .

When evaluating a relationship we often spend a lot of time focusing on the other person.  On their traits. On the things they do or don’t do.  On who THEY are.  While this is important and necessary, it’s also important and necessary to consider who we are. And, specifically, who we are with them. Our relationship impacts us.  It impacts our happiness levels, our drive, our joy and pleasure, our motivation, our commitment.  It challenges us.  It holds up mirrors.  It demands us to show up.  To have difficult conversations.  To own up to things.  To reveal things.  To accept things. It does all those things, it does none of those things, it does some of those things or completely different things.  But the point is that it does things.  To us.  To the us we experience every day. Chances are you’ve heard the frequently used ‘mindfulness’ buzz word. But what exactly is mindfulness? Mindfulness is focused attention and awareness on the present moment. Practicing mindfulness can help us be grateful for the little things in life and engage in life more meaningfully. Take a moment today to be mindful and be fully present in your surroundings. Chose from one below or find your own way! . ☕️ Sit quietly with your coffee or tea, noticing the warmth of the cup on your hands. ☔️ Listen to the rain. 🧘 Set a timer for 5 minutes and notice the natural rhythm of your breath. 🚿 Notice every step of your shower- the smell of the soap, the warmth of the water, the texture of your hair. 📝 Journal your thoughts- don’t worry about grammar, spelling, or content focus on being present and write whatever comes up. 🗣 Engage in conversation, focusing all your attention on the conversation. 🌹 Stop and smell the roses, literally. (Or your favorite lotion/essential oil). 🥞 While eating, describe the taste, notice fully with your senses. 🌿 Participate in a grounding practice: notice five things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can touch, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste (I usually chose a chocolate chip to melt in my mouth 🤤🍫).

Part of me has felt embarrassed about my "home office" during coronavirus lockdown- yes, my desk is a box. 🤷 I am doing therapy out of my bedroom, because I live with my husband in a tiny Philly apartment and this is the best I could come up with! 🤷 I have been at my desk box for over two months now, and I know I will be here for some time. I'm actually feeling super proud of this desk box today. It was the creative idea of my mom, and I write myself reminders on it, which is super handy. ✍️ Like you, I am doing the best I can right now, and am reminded that sometimes we just have to laugh and keep going. I feel happy that one day I will look back and laugh about my tiny box desk that supported me (so I can support my clients!) .
